I went through this drill about six months ago. What you're looking for
is a flat map of the moon. I wouldn't say such a thing doesn't exist, but
after an extensive search by NASA librarians and my search through
Clementine, I can pretty much say that such a map of both the front and
back of the moon does not exist in the form for which you're looking.
Lots of hand-drawn sectional maps [with loads of legends, labels, and
call-outs cluttering it up], lots of photo images of different sections in
resolutions from good to excremental, but no flat map similar to the Earth
JPG that's out there.
I've manipulated photos of full moon faces into flat maps, and while the
effect gives you a moon-like image, it doesn't pass for the real thing.
Maybe you'll have better luck. You might see if anyone at JPL has seen such
a map. Lemme know, or let the list know if you find it.
